Mercury Prize

El "Nationwide Mercury prize" existe sólo para galardonar al mejor disco del año hecho x un artista Ingles o Irlandés. Todos los géneros son elegibles y todos los discos son tratados de igual forma.

Este galardón es el premio número uno en Europa, en términos de prestigio e influencia.

Los 12 discos del año son anunciados en Julio de cada año, para después anunciar al ganador en Septiembre en un show especialmente diseñado para éste fin.

Lo único q se toma en cuenta para decidir al ganador es su música.

El pasado 17 de Julio se anunciaron los discos nominados para competir x el Mercury prize de éste año. El ganador se dará a conocer el próximo 4 de Septiembre.

Datos curiosos:
En el 2001, la ceremonia se realizó el 11 de Septiembre, y cuando se anunció q PJ Harvey era la ganadora, ella estaba en Washington DC, hospedada en un hotel con vista al pentagono, el cual fue golpeado x un avión secuestrado, y en ese mismo año, GORILLAZ declinó su nominación xq en palabras de Murdoc el bajista: "Ganar el Mercury prize sería como llevar cargando un albatros muerto en tu cuello x la eternidad" Desde entonces, ninguno de los proyectos de Damon Albarn ha sido nominado...

Los "especialistas" declaran como favorita a Amy Winehouse, sin embargo, yo le apuesto a los KLAXONS, bajen las canciones, escuchenlas y pronostiquen su favorito...
